Bruce R. Patton is Professor of Physics at The Ohio State University. He taught at the University of California, San Diego and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before coming to Ohio State. He received the Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Swarthmore College in 1966 and the Ph.D. degree in Theoretical Physics from Cornell University in 1971. He has received awards from Woodrow Wilson Foundation, the National Science Foundation Fellowship and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. He has worked extensively on the design and implementation of many types of active learning course structures which have been shown to work well with populations under-represented in science and math, including a supplementary problem-solving lab for minority students in engineering, an inquiry based course in science for elementary school teachers in the Columbus Public School system, and has for over a decade been responsible for the Physics by Inquiry series of courses for Middle Childhood Education majors at Ohio State University. As an Ohio Board of Regents Math and Science Teaching Fellow he has worked to identify, evaluate and disseminate exemplary teaching practices in the State of Ohio through surveys, workshops, conferences, and resource monographs.

Sue Kofsky is an academic advisor in the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences working primarily with the Interdisciplinary majors of Middle Childhood Education and International Studies. She started at The Ohio State University in February 1996 on the Marion Campus working in several different departments before obtaining an academic advising position which is by far her favorite one with the university. She completed a BS in Education at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and taught special education for three years in Galion City Schools. Sue enjoys traveling to NYC and Denver to visit her sons and daughters-in-law, bike riding, reading, and visiting the gorillas at the Columbus Zoo.

Nicole Clark is an Academic Counselor in the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences. She advises Interdisciplinary majors; Middle Childhood Education and International Studies, and majors within Humanities. She has completed an Associate of Arts degree, Bachelor of Arts degree in African American and African Studies with a minor in English and a Master of Education degree all earned at The Ohio State University. She was a Substitute Teacher for four years with Columbus City Schools, from which, she went on to serve on the regional campus of The Ohio State University Marion as an Academic Advisor. She was the first African American to serve in that position since the campus’ founding nearly fifty years prior. Nicole is honored to be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
